Family Week & Ugly Ties!

Another Family Week is upon us and we kick it off this Sunday with something special!  Since we are in the middle of collecting Ugly Ties for our next BGMC fundraiser which begins next Sunday (Mother's Day), we thought it would be fun to show off the ties this Sunday in our Family Service so people get a chance to start thinking about which tie they'll give their monetary vote to.  So we're going to do a little Ugly Tie parade during announcements and let the kids show off their own ties for once.  So if you're kids have already turned in their tie or bring one in by this Sunday, have them come and find PK or Aimee before 2nd service and we'll give them instructions and let them get their ties back for a few minutes.  It'll be fun so encourage your kids to get those ties done quick if they haven't already yet and bring them this Sunday!

The ties will be put out for display beginning Mother's Day next Sunday and will remain out for the month of May!

It's DECORATE YOUR DIRECTOR NIGHT!!  Remind your kids to bring all kinds of fun stuff  with which to decorate their club director: hats, scarfs, jewelry, pins, armbands, belts, etc. etc. etc.  The only thing we ask is that everything your kids bring to decorate their leader be something they don't have to hold on to.  After all, though they are superheroes in many ways, they don't have more than two arms each.  So whatever the kids bring, make sure it can be WORN.  We'll see you at 6:15pm ready to have some fun!

Paper Airplane Theme Night at Awana!

TOMORROW NIGHT IN AWANA: PAPER AIRPLANES WILL FLY!!

Remind your kids to make and bring some paper airplanes to fly at Awana clubs tomorrow night! The games we play will use paper airplanes so you may want to even encourage them to bring several different kinds and backup planes since they tend to be fragile. In fact, we've invited some kids to bring extras to share. If your child is good at making paper airplanes it would be great if they bring 10 or 20 to share for the littler kids who don't know how to make one.

It'll be fun so don't miss out as we launch the month of April with another exciting Awana club night! The fun starts at 6:15pm as always! See you then!

HERE COME THE JUDGES!!

A new series begins in the C.W. Playhouse this Sunday morning: Drudgery & Deliverance - Lessons from the Old Testament Judges! Your kids will join Joe Tipster and Amy Noveau for the weekly Promised Land Good News and learn what happens when we forsake God's laws and do what we THINK is right... a timely message for our current state of affairs. So don't let your kids miss out as we finish off Joshua and jump into the next exciting stage of Israel's history with biographies of famous individuals such as Gideon, Deborah, Samson, Samuel, and others!

Resurrection Family Service this Sunday!

Remember, we've switched Family Week around to coincide with the Easter/Spring Break holiday week, so this Sunday we'll be celebrating the Resurrection together with our families and this coming week is Family Week, so no Awana clubs on Wednesday.

Purple Robe Theme Night at Awana Tomorrow!

Tomorrow night is Purple Robe Theme night for Awana Clubs in remembrance of Jesus' death this Holy Week. Of course, Purple Robe night doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a robe, but any purple cloth will do, a scarf, bow, whatever. And if it's a bit more bluish or reddish, we'll still count it if they make an attempt. The idea is to wear something that reminds us of the garment of Christ that was gambled for by the Roman soldiers at the foot of his Cross.

Also, remind your kids to plan for outdoor games and dress warm enough, just in case.

MEASLES THEME NIGHT!

Tonight's theme night at Awana clubs is MEASLES NIGHT! No, we're not saying only those kids who have the measles can come. Tonight, we will be engaging in a little friendly competition between clubs instead of color teams! For every section a clubber finishes tonight, we will put a red dot on their club director's face giving them a mild or serious case of measles. Then at the end of the night we'll compare and see which club produces the "sickest" leader! :D

It'll be fun! Come out and be a part of it starting at 6:15pm!

Inside Out Theme Night at Awana Clubs Tonight.

Remember to wear your uniforms inside out tonight for extra credit for your color team! In fact, have some fun with this, wear your shoes on the wrong feet and wear your pants inside out too! Why not? Just keep the inner-wear inside and the outer wear outside! :D

You know, you could even go the next step and wear your clothes backwards like these kids in the picture above! Have fun with it... as long as it's modest and appropriate!

BGMC FAMILY WEEK THIS SUNDAY!!

It's Family Week, but not just ANY Family Week! This Sunday, Bill and Cheryl Gray will be with us sharing their hearts for kids in the inner city and their ministry in Mobile, Alabama. To make it even more special we thought it would be fun to take a special BGMC offering for their ministry since they are missionaries Prayer House supports. So remind your kids that this Sunday it will be boys vs girls for the HEAVIEST bucket of money in what we're calling "Lost Change for Lost Souls." We'll bring out the Buddy Barrel scale and see which one is heaviest so have your kids search everywhere for that loose change around the house in furniture, car seats, floors, and even on the sidewalks and bring it Sunday!

By the way, have you checked out how much the kids have raised toward our goal already this year just to the right of this article under the picture of the Buddy Barrel? We're jamming!

BGMC KID VID VETO LAUNCH SUNDAY!!

This Sunday is BGMC Offering collection Sunday! Remind your kids to bring their barrels. This is also the last Sunday of our Buck Denver Pentateuch series and we will be putting kids names in a drawing once for every quarter they put in their Buddy Barrels. The winner of the drawing will receive the What's in the Bible with Buck Denver DVD #3: Wanderin' in the Desert which we've been learning from! So the more money they put in their barrel for this Sunday, the more chances they will have to win!

Of course, this Sunday kicks off the official beginning of the Kid Vid Veto as well so remind your kids to keep collecting sponsors so that their sacrifice is worth as much as possible for missions! Hopefully you have already begun leading the example in your home in this media sacrifice or at the very least will join your kids as they begin this Sunday. It is important that we model discipline and right priorities in the home and encourage our kids to sacrifice for the Kingdom of God while they are young. I can think of no greater discipline to practice periodically as disciples of Jesus, than to turn off the worldly entertainment that can so permeate the atmosphere of our homes. This fundraiser is a WIN/WIN/WIN event, getting families off of media, raising money for missions, and bearing the natural fruit of drawing closer to Christ and others in the church! So consider rising up to the challenge with us this year and encourage your kids to go the whole 28 days!

Numbers & Deuteronomy in the Playhouse this Sunday!

Pastor Kevin is back in the Playhouse this Sunday as we continue to explore the Pentateuch with the kids! This week, Buck Denver and co. will look at the final two books of the books of Law! This will also be a birthday celebration week for February Birthdays so come and celebrate your friends birthdays with us as well!

AND DON'T FORGET TO KEEP GATHERING SPONSORS FOR THE KID VID VETO THIS WEEK! WE'VE GOT ONE MORE WEEK BEFORE IT BEGINS AND I KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH WHO WILL SPONSOR ANY AND ALL KIDS THAT COME TO THEM, SO THE MORE KIDS WHO SEE THEM THE MORE MONEY WE WILL RAISE FOR BGMC/MISSIONS!!

Valentine's Hearts Theme Tonight at Awana Clubs!

Family week is over and it's back to Awana clubs tonight with love and hearts everywhere! OK, so Valentine's Day was yesterday, but we're not going to let that stop us from celebrating Love tonight! So remind your kids to put on those red and pink clothes, especially the ones with hearts and stuff! The team with the most "love" on their team tonight will get bonus points!

Remember we start at 6:15pm!

Stuffed Animal Theme Night tomorrow in Awana!

Remind your kids to bring the BIGGEST stuffed animal they have in their collection and maybe a couple extra to share with friends! Tomorrow night they will get extra credit points for the color team with the most GIANT stuffed animals but they are limited to ONE PER CLUBBER. So they can only get credit for one of their giant animals unless they share it with a friend on their team who maybe doesn't have a stuffed animal that large.

Pastor Kevin will be looking at how many team members are holding a stuffed toy of any size... but the bigger the animal, the more potential value it will add!

Of course, don't forget the basics that often win the contest without the bonus points anyway: ATTENDANCE, BEING ON TIME, WEARING UNIFORMS, MEMORIZING SECTIONS, BRINGING A BIBLE AND AN OFFERING ETC.

THIS SUNDAY IS BGMC SUNDAY! REMIND YOUR KIDS TO BRING IN THEIR BUDDY BARRELS! ANY CHILD WHO BRINGS AT LEAST $2.00 IN THEIR BARREL GETS TO GO IN PK'S PRIZE BOX!!

Also: This week the kids will learn the difference between Ritual and Ethical laws in the Old Testament Law of Moses. We will have games and activities to make it memorable along with Buck Denver and company! Join us at 10:30am, Sunday Morning!

Awana Tonight starts at 6:15pm & This Sunday is BGMC Sunday!

Another Awana club night! Don't forget we begin at 6:15pm now so try to get the kids to church just a bit earlier so they can get their full points for the evening.

ALSO: This Sunday is our first BGMC Sunday of this year and to encourage a good start on the year, we're offering every child who brings at least $2.00 in their Buddy Barrel this Sunday an opportunity to go in Pastor Kevin's prize box!

First the Holidays... Now Family Week... Then...The Promised Land!

There are just a few more days of quiet following the holidays before the 2012 storm hits! No I'm not talking about the political storm of an election year, though this year may prove rather chaotic on that front. No, I'm talking about the 2012 SPIRITUAL REVIVAL that we're smelling in the air as we transition from one year into the next and look forward to all that God is doing in our midst. Are you ready to conquer the Promised Land with us? The kids will be learning about Spiritual Warfare as we move from Moses to Joshua this year in the C.W. Playhouse. Let’s show them how we follow our Lord to victory even today!

One Family Service on New Year's Day at 10:30am!

OK, so it won't exactly be a party like this picture, but it will follow all the parties on New Year's Eve... so consider this a reminder not to party too hard on Saturday night so that you can start the new year off right with worship of the King and gathering with His people to honor Him and lift one another up! We're only having one service and it's the later one, so hopefully we can all get enough sleep and show up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed!

Celebrate Christmas with Your Church Family this Sunday

Christmas is on Sunday this year and what better gift to give Jesus on HIS birthday then to gather together with the saints and worship Him? There will be only one service on Christmas day at 10:30pm so it's late enough that everyone should have time to wake up and open those Christmas presents (especially if you have little ones who wake you up at 5am to do so) and maybe even sit down to a nice family breakfast, if that is your tradition, before dressing in your Sunday best and coming to a real CHRIST MASS! Because of the family nature of Christmas, we will not have Kids Church, but we do have a special gift for every child who comes Christmas morning with mom and dad, so don't let them stay home with their new toys! Take a short break and explain to them that, like the shepherds and magi, we are going to go and worship the King.

And remember the message of last Sunday's puppet skit...the only gift we can really give Jesus is our hearts and our worship... and it IS His birthday after all.

Last Awana club of 2011: Biblical Christmas Theme Night!

Tomorrow is our last Awana club of the year! Don't miss out! The club directors are planning all kinds of fun holiday festivities and we're doing another special theme night: BIBLICAL CHRISTMAS THEME NIGHT! Remind your kids to dress up in Bible clothes associated with the birth of Jesus... Shepherds, Wise Men, Angels, even Roman soldiers! It'll be a great night. See you then!

Christmas Program this Sunday BOTH SERVICES!

Don't miss our Kids Christmas program this Sunday morning! This year we're doing a smaller kids musical, but there will be a couple of puppet skits and some adult ensemble numbers as well. The overall program should be a delight to parents and friends and the message is always wonderful at this time of year. So join us at 8:30am or 10:30am!
